Throughout the year, the Newar community celebrates numerous festivals. One of these festivities is Cha Tha:, also known as Ganesh Chauthi. On the fourth day of Bhadra Shukla, this celebration is held. In Newar Community , it is known as Cha Tha:,, and the deity worshiped on this day is known as Cha:tha Devata. Lord Ganesh is born in Bhaktapur’s Navdurga Gana on this day. As a result, this day is also known as Ganesh Chauthi. There is a legend about it. Since early morning, devotees have started worshiping at the neighboring Lord Ganesh temple. In the morning, worship Lord Ganesh. Chatapa: After sighting the moon, worship Lord Ganesh at night. Cha Tha:, There’s a story about why people worship at night. Lord Ganesh was enraged because Chandradev(Moon God) insulted Lord Ganesh‘s face, and he cursed Chandradev, saying that from now on, if someone sees the Moon, the Moon will be accused, resulting in false theft. Everyone stopped going to Chandradev because of the curse.

When Chandradev realized his error, he apologized to Lord Ganesh, who was pleased. Although Lord Ganesh could not remove all the curses, he forgave the guilt of the other days save the day of Nalathva Chaturthi (Cha Tha:). As a result, it is still usual to hide in Thimi on Cha Tha: Day to avoid staring at the moon. Lord Krishna was wrongly accused of stealing the moon on the day of Cha Tha: in the Dwaparayuga, and after he was wrongfully accused of stealing Syamantak Mani and killing Prasen, he adored Lord Ganesh and apologized.
