Locals have been flocking to the temple to pray and pay reverence .Newar community has gone to the Bhimsen Temple for a Guthi feast after hanging the Chir Swayegu, or Penis.

The contest is based on the notion that carrying a penis from the temple to the river will result in a son being born. Because  Bhimsen Temple was established during the reign of Jagat Prakash Malla, it is thought that the Holi tradition began at that time.
