This event is thought to have been initiated by Bajracharya Jayaratna of Chatur Brahma Mahabihar. It is usual in the Bhuikhyal area in Napukhu‘s western Thathuvahi area to prepare and offer special delicacies (such as a specific form of laddu produced by mixing roti and sakhkar) to the south. This Samyak Mahadaan event has been organized and managed by the Samyak Mahadan Management Support Committee in a systematic and spectacular manner.
The highest of the numerous alms of generosity, according to the Kapisa Contribution Sutra, is Samyak Mahadan, whereas the alms offered to all Buddhist Bodhisattvas, including Lord Swayambhu, is also termed Samyak Mahadan.
Swayambhu’s Bhuikhal in Kathmandu celebrates Samyak Mahadan every 12 years, Nagbahal in Lalitpur every 5 years, and Bhaktapur every year.
Vajracharya and Shakya, according to Buddhism, receive alms on this day.
