Today Dipawali at Siddha Pokhari Mela is the next day.

Today, Dipawali was celebrated in Bhaktapur‘s most beautiful place Siddha Pokhari. On tomorrow a Jatra  will be held in the pond .Every year, on the evening of Indra Jatra and the next day, the fair is conducted in Siddha Pokhari in Dudhpati, Bhaktapur.

The deity of Goddess Indrayani is worshiped in the pond on Dipawali day. Goddess Indrayani from khauma tole will placed in a khata, and the Baja-gaja is carried around Bhaktapur and taken to the pond. Lighting a lamp to welcome the deity placed in the pond is a tradition. Devotees flock to the pond in the morning for darshan and washing of the Indrayani deity, and the pond hosts a fair. The deity Indrayani is lifted from the pond in the evening on the day of the fair, while the other half is circumambulated throughout the city and transferred to Indrayani Pitha in Khauma tole. On both the day of Dipawali and the next day of the jatra, devotees flock here early in the morning.

The district’s major pond is Siddha Pokhari known as Ta:Pukhu. It is the most gorgeous and largest of Bhaktapur’s 34 small and large ponds. Traditionally, a wall surrounds the pond. Because fish are kept in the pond, it has also become a tourist attraction. Around the pond, there are also gardens. Even on a normal day, thousands of people visit the pond.
